First Visit

I am a new client. What class do you recommend that I start with?

We recommend that all new clients take our original haute SHAKE-IT class at least once.  Haute SHAKE-IT offers intensive toning and deep stretching, and is a great introduction to our program. In this class, you will learn the basic moves and terminology that you can expect to see in our other class types.

What can I expect at my first class?

Expect to feel the burning and shaking.  All Haute Barre classes are designed to challenge at every level.  We offer modifications and challenges for everyone, regardless of experience or ability. Please let your instructor know if you have any injuries or concerns prior to class, and feel free to ask any questions before or after class.

What else do I need to know for my first class?

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the class start time.  We would like to have enough time to meet you, have you fill out some paperwork, and show you around.

I have no experience with ballet or dance. Can I still come to Haute Barre?

Absolutely!  Haute Barre is not a program tailored only for dancers. In fact, some of our most inspiring instructors and clients have zero formal dance experience.  The barre and exercises are used to help every member develop strong, lean muscles. Some dance terminology may be used to set up exercises or cue movements, but these terms will be explained by your instructor. Always feel free to ask the instructor for additional clarification.

What do I need to bring to class?

We provide all of the equipment.  We just recommend that you bring water.  Please wear comfortable, breathable clothing that you can easily move in.  Try to refrain from over-sized or baggy clothing that can hinder the instructor’s ability to see your form.
