Haute Community: Summer Toiletry Drive

Join us in helping local at-risk children with a summer toiletry drive supporting Perspectives, a local non-profit organization whose mission is to empower mothers and rebuild families by breaking cycles for at-risk families for total family recovery.

June 9th through the 23rd we will be collecting summer toiletry items for donation to Perspectives.  The items will be used to support their Kids Connection summer youth programming and help provide social enrichment to children who have experienced significant trauma caused by homelessness and/or living in families that suffer from addiction, mental illness, abuse, and poverty.

Bring any of the items listed below to the studio and help us support the confidence and basic needs of local at-risk children.  Together we can make a positive impact on youth in our community who, at a crucial time in their lives, could use extra help and encouragement.

Donation Items:

Please note: All items should be full size, new and sealed.

  • Deodorant
  • Bug Spray
  • Sunscreen

Appreciated extras: Refillable water bottles

Love Your Community: Toiletry Drive

Imagine not being able to shower when you wanted, brush your teeth when you wanted, or having basic necessities for personal hygiene.  These things are small but essential to our daily lives.  Without them, our appearances degenerate and our confidence, self-respect, and initiative suffer.  For youth already struggling with challenging circumstances, feeling bad about the way they look exacerbates an already difficult situation.

Join us this month in supporting our community and collecting toiletry items for Teaming Up For Teens, a local non-profit whose mission is to supply basic hygiene needs and link together the services for our homeless and at-risk teens in the west metro suburbs so they can protect themselves from the elements and actively participate in school.

February 1st through the 15th we will be collecting toiletry items for donation to Teaming Up For Teens.

Bring any of the items listed below to the studio and help us support the confidence and self-respect of local homeless and at-risk teens.  Together we can make a positive impact on youth in our community who, at a crucial time in their lives, could use extra help and encouragement.

Toiletry Items:

Please note: All items should be full size, new and sealed.

  • Shampoo + Hair Conditioner
  • Body Wash
  • Toothpaste + Toothbrush
  • Deodorant
  • Razors
  • Comb + Hair Accessories
  • Feminine Hygiene Products

Appreciated Extras: Detergent + Socks + Underwear

Haute Student of the Month: Jana

Each month we talk with one of our students so they can share their experience with others.  This month we’re chatting with Jana.

What do you love about Haute Barre?

I love the class styles and the instructors, but I also love the community. I have made many friends at Haute Barre who support me in both the studio and in my daily life. They keep a smile on my face even during the toughest workouts.

What’s the biggest change you’ve noticed?

The muscle definition in my shoulders and back continue to surprise me. My cardio endurance has also improved from the Haute Shake-It Fusion and Barre Boxing class formats.

What part of class do you love to hate?

The “Up-Down” sequence with burpees that is repeated four times in Jarod’s boxing class. Enough said.

What advice would you give to someone coming to Haute Barre for the first time?

Make sure to try different class styles and different instructors. Every class and instructor is unique, and your body will benefit from the variety of options and techniques.

What motivates you to come to class?

I feel so much stronger both physically and mentally since I became a Haute Barre member 4 years ago. That combined with Monday night nachos at Rojo keep me committed to my classes.

What’s your favorite fall activity?

Hiking around Lake Superior and rewarding myself with red wine around the campfire.

Haute Student of the Month: Shari

Each month we talk with one of our students so they can share their experience with others.  This month we’re chatting with Shari.

What do you love about Haute Barre?

Absolutely everything! The studio has such a welcoming atmosphere and great energy. The instructors are all amazing, inspiring and challenging in their own unique way.  The total body workout you get in each class is fun and super addicting!

What’s the biggest change you’ve noticed?

I have gained so much strength, muscle tone and confidence.  I feel so much better mentally and physically.  I’ve also lost 22 lbs since January!

What part of class do you love to hate?

There are a few but chair pose is always the one that gets me.  I have definitely noticed improvement since my first class and always try to push myself a little more each time.  When I’m in the pose I try to remember that shaking is good and the burn will go away!  I do my best to smile and keep pushing through!

What advice would you give to someone coming to Haute Barre for the first time?

To stick with it and know that each class will be challenging in a different way.  It won’t get easier because you will learn to push harder in each and every class.  It’s your workout and you can modify or intensify where you need to.

What motivates you to come to class?

Each class is different so it’s fun not knowing what pose will be next or what the cardio sequences will be.  The instructors are encouraging and get to know you more in each class. It’s never boring and I feel so energized when I’m done!  I never thought anything could motivate me to get up at 4:30am but I was hooked the first morning I came to Haute Barre!

Haute Student of the Month: Georgia

Each month we talk with one of our students so they can share their experience with others.  This month we’re chatting with Georgia.

What do you love about Haute Barre?

The welcoming, encouraging environment with the members and instructors, the diverse workouts, and the full body burnout that each class provides. Every class challenges me in some way or another.

What’s the biggest change you’ve noticed?

How toned my arms have gotten. My arms have always been the weakest part of my body so it always amazes me to see the muscle I have built through doing barre class.

What part of class do you love to hate?

Chair Pose. No matter how often I do it, it is the one move that is always extremely hard.

What advice would you give to someone coming to Haute Barre for the first time?

After my first class at Haute Barre I was shocked at how challenging the workout was. It does not get easier because you are constantly pushing yourself, but it does get better as your body gets used to the moves and builds muscle.

What motivates you to come to class?
It has taken me a while to find a type of workout that I love to do. I have been coming to Haute Barre since March 2016 and I absolutely love it! The results that I have seen is huge motivating factor.

Reverse chair! It always gets me “shaking”.

The feeling of accomplishment I know I will have once I have completed a class.
