First Visit

I am a new client. What class do you recommend that I start with?

While all of our classes are accessible to all-levels, many of our new students find the original Haute SHAKE-IT class to be great introduction to our barre program while BASE [yoga] provides the same for our yoga program. In each of these classes, you will learn the basic movements and terminology that you can expect to see in our other classes.

What can I expect at my first class?

Expect to feel the burning and shaking.  All Haute Barre classes are designed to challenge at every level.  We offer modifications and challenges for everyone, regardless of experience or ability. Please let your instructor know if you have any injuries or concerns prior to class, and feel free to ask any questions before or after class.

What else do I need to know for my first class?

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the class start time.  We would like to have enough time to meet you, have you fill out some paperwork, and show you around.

I have no experience with barre or yoga. Can I still come to Haute Barre?

Absolutely!  Haute Barre is not a program tailored only for dancers or seasoned yogis. In fact, some of our most inspiring instructors and clients started with zero formal experience.  The barre and yoga movements and exercises are used to help everyone develop strong, lean muscles. Some dance or yoga specific terminology may be used to set up exercises or cue movements, but these terms will be explained as class progresses.

What do I need to bring to class?

We provide all of the equipment, but do recommend yoga students bring their own mats. We also suggest that you bring water and wear comfortable, breathable clothing that you can easily move in. Try to refrain from over-sized or baggy clothing that can interfere with fluid movements.
